Pam’s Famous Scones

A scone is a single-serving quick bread. They are often lightly-sweetened, and are occasionally glazed. The scone is an excellent companion with Tea or a light breakfast.

Ingredients
  • 2 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup White Sugar
  • 4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Butter or Margarine (Cold)
  • 1/2 cup Raisins (Optional. Could substitute with blueberries or cranberries)
  • 2/3 cup Milk 2% (1% works)
  • 1 Large Egg
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 425F. Continue preparing mixture.
  2. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in raisins and make a well in the center.
  4. In a small bowl, beat egg until frothy. Stir in milk and pour into well.
  5. Knead 8 - 1- times.
  6. With a rolling pin, roll out to about 1/2" thick.
  7. Using a small glass, cut into round shapes.
  8. Place on greased baking sheet.
  9. Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425F for 15 minutes until risen and browned slightly.
