A scone is a single-serving quick bread. They are often lightly-sweetened, and are occasionally glazed. The scone is an excellent companion with Tea or a light breakfast.

- Pre-heat oven to 425F. Continue preparing mixture.
- In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in raisins and make a well in the center.
- In a small bowl, beat egg until frothy. Stir in milk and pour into well.
- Knead 8 - 1- times.
- With a rolling pin, roll out to about 1/2" thick.
- Using a small glass, cut into round shapes.
- Place on greased baking sheet.
- Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425F for 15 minutes until risen and browned slightly.
